This school of fish animation I decided to do a hand drawn animation piece as I really liked when I was doing the test when it comes to just drawing on paper but for my final piece since it’s going to be against a 3d model I have to figure out a way for each individual frame to lineup just like when it was on the animation paper at first I was thinking of using acetate but back when I was doing my first stop-motion project we used acetate but there was a slight tint to the acetate which doesn’t look nice to look at.Finished background piece for the final animation. I decided to create this piece by using foam boards for the whole box and the props such as the train and railings and for the seaweed in the foreground I decided to use paper. I decided to use these materials as they are light weight and easy to carry around.

When shooting for the stop motion animation I decided to use dragon frame instead of filming the animation in stop motion studio as I want my film to be in good quality. Overall I really liked using dragon frame as a programme as it’s easy to navigate and can also adjust the lighting and composition of the props easily.

Non edited version of the film:: For this version of the film the rig for the puppetry of the origami animals can be seen which I don’t really like as I really want the animals to be floating around just like how underwater creatures float around underwater. This version was also the version I showed during the screening in class to receive feedback from which I then incorporated into the final edited version of the film. Overall I really liked how the animation turned out as it created a really calm atmosphere and that I also enjoyed the process of making from the props to filming. However, what I found tedious in doing was when filming the boiling effect in the background some props fall down and the camera keeps moving occasionally meaning the last frame will be slightly moved to the side which I hope I can fix and keep in mind when I’m doing any stop-motion animation projects in the future.
