Production Principles

My Neighbor Totoro 1988 (Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki)

GROUP STOP-MOTION TRIAL
Audio that was chosen
For the audio me and my group decided to choose this specific audio as we felt that it was less complicated and repetitive which means that we can use some of our previous shapes to create a cohesive animation.
Experimentation
for the first experiment I did I chose a triangle then it transforms into a droplet which looks nice being animated as it lays flat on the ground however the jump part made a lot of problems when me and my teammates learned that we have to make it move in a 3d space. Overall I really liked the squash and stretch of the triangle jumping as well as when the droplet is falling.
for this second experiment I decided to do this extra animation using a square just incase we are missing some parts to animate with. I wish when I was animating this that at the end that the squash and stretch of the square can be a bit more timed out properly as I feel that it went quickly.
CRICKETS. | ONE WEEK STOP-MOTION FILM

This is a one week stop motion film our group did for the first rotation of the production principles unit::

Animation Credits to::

Nabil Khedarun, Mahtab Koohi, Chantel Moore, Trisha Nicomedes

CRICKETS Feedback
  • I like how the audio gets louder during the jump
  • It is really interesting how the imagery is linked to the sound
  • The acetate that was used was too big for the jumped scene
  • The droplet scene is very smooth
  • Each person has a defined colour that blends well together
  • Nice rhythm
  • the colour of the square turning into the worm is too similar to the zig zag squares. If they were a different colour it would’ve been more effective.
